CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS

The Contract Specifications Screen allows you to enter details of the contracts you trade. The data table on this screen includes the contract symbol and name as well as the margin requirement.

You can enter the fees and commissions charged for opening and closing a position. Most brokers charge the full round turn on opening options positions but the commissions are charged on closing a futures position.

All of the Futures contract details you are ever likely to need are already included in the program, and will need very little (if any) modification, except to alter the margin requirements as they change from time to time.

You can enter your live data links on this table. This allows you to get price quotes from your live data feed, and import them straight into your portfolio.

Date Sensitive Commissions

As there maybe occasions during the year when your fees or commissions alter and a different usual charge becomes applicable - (for example you negotiate a new commission rate with your broker - or if the NFA fees change. The Margin Account Calculator caters for this situation by using a date sensitive lookup table for the usual commissions charged.

The Margin also allows adjustments for the varying fees charged by the different exchanges in relation to each market and exchange. For example the fees charged in addition to your brokers usual fee for trading Sugar at the CSCE may be different to the fees charged by CME for Cattle and CBOT for grains.

You can enter your usual commissions and The Margin Account Calculator will use this data in the calculations for profit and loss. Should your usual commissions alter, you can add the new data without affecting the previous trade calculations.

Additional Fees

You can enter Additional Fees charged by the various exchanges, either using a ‘per Ticket’ basis, or a ‘per contract’ basis. By this I mean that if for example your fees are on a per ticket basis and you trade 5 contracts you will be charged 1 item, whereas if you are charged on a per contract basis you are charged 5 items.
